As eager as we are to discuss your building project with you, we recommend, as this first step of the order process indicates, that you check with your local township/municipal office to familiarize yourself with any relevant building/zoning code enforcement ordinances and to obtain any required building permits. This information will help to define your planning process and building design.
Your local ordinances will define property set back requirements and allowable building size. There may also be specific restrictions or requirements you must meet depending on the location of your property and how your property is classified (residential, commercial, farm), and whether your new building will be classified as a temporary or permanent structure based on the size of the building and its method of construction. A property survey that indicates your building location may be required as part of the application process.
Additionally, residents of planned communities often have their own set of rules, regulations and approval process that must be considered.
As the property owner you will be responsible for all compliance requirements necessary in your particular area. We are available to assist you with the building specifications and other aspects of building construction that may help with the application process.
Installation of electricity and water to your building, if desired, will require permits.
Our experience is that homeowners encounter few, if any, difficulties with obtaining the required building permit(s).
